Hydrant Flushing is currently underway in the community. View a Hydrant flushing map of community areas to be flushed. On Monday April 18th, crews will be flushing in area 1C, then will move to 2A, 2B, 3A, and so on.
Hydrant flushing is the quick release of water from fire hydrants. It’s a controlled procedure that is vital to the general maintenance of the City’s water distribution system. It ensures adequate water flow is available to fire fighters, residents and businesses. It also helps maintain the City’s water clarity and quality by clearing iron and mineral deposits from the water mains (distribution pipes).
While hydrant flushing is happening in your area, you may see some slight discoloration in your water. Residents are cautioned against doing laundry, especially white clothing, while City crews are in the area. Unfortunately, it is not possible to determine where any sediment or discoloration problems may occur. Look for signs near neighborhood entrances to alert you when this maintenance activity is occurring.
Water is safe to drink and can be cleared up by running the cold water.
