Election Dates


General Election: November 3, 2020



Absentee/early voting is happening now at Waconia City Hall for City of Waconia residents!

 


For the General Election, absentee/early voting is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday - Friday starting September 18 and going through November 2. The City will also be open extended hours for voting on the following dates:
  • Saturday, October 24: 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
  • Monday, October 26 - Thursday, October 29: 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, October 31: 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Monday, November 2: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 
If you are not a City of Waconia resident (but reside in Carver County) you can absentee vote at the Carver County Government Center in Chaska. Their hours may be different than the hours listed above.

Polling Locations


Local, state, and national elections are held in even-numbered years. On election day, all polling places are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. The City of Waconia is divided into 2 wards, please view the polling places listed below. If you are unsure of the ward in which you reside, please consult the City of Waconia Ward Boundary Map below or visit the Secretary of State’s website.

Residents of the City of Waconia reside within the following government jurisdictions:

  • Minnesota House District 47A
  • Minnesota Senate District 47
  • U.S. Congressional District 6

Absentee Voting

Waconia Residents now have the opportunity to vote absentee at Waconia City Hall (201 South Vine Street). Absentee voting does require an absentee voting application to be filled out. These are available at the time of voting, but can also be downloaded here (LINK, PDF) and filled out ahead of time. This will save you time when you arrive to vote.
